I recently got this model (all in one) from my mother (she doesn’t use it as much as she thought she would) however she doesn’t have the installation CD. I’ve looked on here and found different answers that haven’t worked. My printer doesn’t connect to my laptop (It’s a WiFi Printer) and I can’t figure out why. I’ve tried the Plug & Prey (play) method but it prompts for a installation CD. I tried to do it without it and it didn’t work.

I have wifi from my neighbor- who has a linksys router. I can connect, but the signal is weak and it’s only in one place- my couch. My desktop is in another room. I don’t really care about getting internet on the desktop, but I want to wirelesysl make a home network using my wireless laptop and the desktop for printer sharing. The desktop has the linksys adapter and I do have a linksys router, but obviously I cannot connect it to a modem.

Another thing- I used the XP network creator but it makes a bridge connection and I lose my connection with my neighbor’s wifi. I’m so confused.

I have a network with both LAN and WiFi from a router, computers with Windows XP and an iMac running Tiger, and a Canon PIXMA iP4500 printer. Would I be able to get a print server device to connect the printer to the network so all computers could access it without relying on printing through another computer? Which is the best one that would work? Trying to keep price down but I want to be sure it will work.

I have an older hp omnibook 900. It has an Airlink 101 wireless card in it. The previous owner said he used it to connect to the internet. I”m unsure on how to get to the view wireless networks screen. In an answer earlier someone said to go to start, then connect to. But I don’t seem to have that options. If I go to settings I have the options of “control panel”, “dial up networking”, “printers” and “taskbar adn start menu”. If I choose control panel, then network, among my choices are airlin 101 cardbus adapter, dial up adapter, tcp/ip airlink 101….. and tcp/ip dial up adapter. I am running windows me. I have my laptop with me at work, and we run all our computers off wirless, so shouldn’t I be able to find that network? It is not secured. Can someone please tell me where to find the list of the networks that it is recieving a signal from. Thanks.

Am I correct that it doesn’t come with the printer? I’m looking at a Lexmark x3650. When purchasing a cable for the printer, are they all the same? Is there anything different or better that I should look for? Are they all the same length, too. As I said, I have a laptop. Are there different types? Also, silly question I guess, but once I install it (which I hope to heaven is not too difficult) is it alright to keep plugging it in and out of the laptop, as I take my laptop with me? That won’t harm it, will it? (I don’t want the wifi printers out now). I’ve heard Lexmark isn’t too good, but I’ve heard the same of HP and Dell.

I have a laptop connected to my home wireless and the wireless router is connected to a regular router wich is also connected via a wire to our home computer which is connected to our printer via usb. Is there and way to print without directly connecting the printer to my laptop? Sorry if your confused. Thanks.
I got it to work…… no expensive wifi printer, no print server, just skills.

It looks like it’s an old one, a brother MFC1780. I’ve found some pages on google but nothing about how to install it or drivers or anything. It has an ethernet port on it, not a usb one like normal printers do. I tried just putting it into my wifi router and it found it’s IP but it had no ping and the windows printer thing didn’t detect it. how should I go about getting it to work over the network?

Can I use a network switch and another router to isolate my network from a neighbor’s WiFi that I share?

The conceptual question here is would this make sense? For example would this help my networked printer stop changing it IP? Would it help retain my ability to print even when my neighbor’s WiFi router looses its Comcast IP or DNS? I would like to minimize difficulty with getting back on line after the Internet connection drops at my neighbor’s which I share. I have 3 PCs, 1 Mac and 2 other IP devices.
