I have 3 computers that I want to network together, 2 XP one Vista. The XPs can access eachother, and the vista can access them, but they cannot access the Vista. It tells them that they do not have permission but I do not have a firewall and have shared the drives, along with set everything sharable/discoverable and password free.

I can’t think of anything else to do…I can’t give them permissions because they are not users on the Vista, and the permissions seem to only work with accounts on the Vista computer.

Any help is VERY much appreciated!
It is Vista Home Basic.

And unfortunately the adding users did not work.

Ok so I have a windows vista computer that has all of the networking equipment hooked up to it (printer, wireless router, router) for a while I had it sharing a printer with my xp computer upstairs. Then it just stopped, it didnt like it anymore for some reason. It could be because I reinstalled windows vista? what would that do? Anyways Now I have a mac and they can both connect to this connection but only the xp computer and mac can see each other, the vista one cannot be accesed or I cannot even see it, any suggestions?? HELPP!!! Free tech support numbers? Anything?

I have a network that is setup like this: modem–>Router–>Switch. Switch is full, so i connected my computer to the router ports. The router config. website shows all the computers from the network on the DHCP client list, but none of them show up on my network. One computer running vista is recognized on the network map, but cannot be accessed. workgroup has already been set, any ideas?

My desktop (running XP) is connected to a wireless router with a cable and I can access the internet with it. My laptop (running Vista) is connected to the wireless router ‘wirelessly’ and I can access the internet with it. How do I network the two computers so that I can transfer files back and forth?

The XP tutorial said to make a copy of XP to load on the remote computers but offers only drives which don’t have the ability to write. i.e. drives F G H I J Even though the CD burner is on E.
I figured if VISTA was more refined than XP it should network with XP with out needing to be prompted.
I currently can acess the internet on both computers using a wireless router but have not gotten them to talk to each other.
