I have a switch or a hub I have it connected to my 2 laptps and 1 comp. I have used the home networking and it works fine for my computer and laptop and file sharing works but my second laptop is vista starter I cant send files or share then from my xp computer to this vista . However the internet works fine on this vista laptop

I can access the other computers from this vista laptop but not from my Windows XP Machines
Also my network is set to private and is at the right workgroup.

Network discovery is switched on, firewall is allowing file sharing

Also when I go to sharing and discovery, it only has stuff about Discovery.

I also right clicked C: to see if there is a share tab on the properties it seems its not there.

I just bought a new computer with Vista Home Premium and I have a laptop with XP Home and a desktop with XP Pro that I want to network with. The XP machines see the vista machine and share files with eachother but not with the Vista machine. The Vista machine doesn’t see either of the XP machines. I have loaded the LLT patch download from Windows but I still cant figure it out. PLEASE HELP! Thanks
I am not sure exactly where everything is on vista, can you help me get there

I have two XP machines and two Vista machines. I cannot get to my shared drives and printer on one of the Vista machines from the XP machines. I keep getting a message that says I do not have permission. I have enabled everything that is in the network center. I have disabled windows firewall on both computers. I am getting real close to changing the Vista machines to XP, but I guess I am just too stubborn to give up yet. I would appreciate any help that I could get with this one.

Thanks

Is there a way to network a Vista PC and Win XP laptop using a firewire or RJ-45? My pc is a HP Pavillion Slimline and it sounds absurd but it has NO port for a crossover cable.
I tried RJ-45 and I couldnt get it to work. A step-by-step instruction on how to achieve this is really appreciated.
Thank you all

Hi there, I have a 10 year old computer running Windows 95 that has some old valuable files on it. I’d like to copy it off onto my current Windows Vista 32-bit laptop. I tried just connecting a router to both, but am not able to see each other in My Network. Does anyone know if I need to use specific network settings to be able to have a Win95 and WinVista machine talk to each other? Thank you very much!!!

Have got two xp machines, one vista machine. Want to give the xp machines access to folders and printers on vista machine.

Have set permissions for shared drive (D) on vista machine to ‘everyone’

When I try to access this drive on XP machines, it says that it does not have Permissions

Can anyone shed some light on what I have to do on the vista box to allow the xp machines to have permission to access the drive?

map but I cant click on it. Computers CAN ping but I cant map the drives by IP or comp name. I have enabled sharing, set network to private, turned on and off firewalls etc. The error I get on Vista is __IP_ is not set to establish a connection on port file and sharing (SMB)

Please help!
